Simply Stylist NY— a tri-city Fashion and Beauty Conference teamed up with Marie Claire to put together a conference with the best tastemakers, celebrities and industry experts in New York city. The conference was jam-packed with great networking opportunities; brand experiences by Keaton Row, derma e, Priv, Bed Head, TMG, Katherine Cosmetics, Dittos, Rack it Up, Harper Hallam, Crossroads Trading co., Pulse Laser & Skincare Center, Spots NYC and many more.
Catt Sadler of E! News hosted the Fashion and Beauty Panel.
The day started off with a Key Note speaker: Jaime Chung
PC: Soul Brother
Jamie Chung spoke about her love for social media, food and photography although she admitted she doesn’t like to be the one taking the pictures. She jokingly said if you want to keep your relationship, don’t let your spouse take your photos; confessing that her fiancé gets annoyed at her pickiness with photos.
Next we got to hear from a panel of experts:
Elenor Mak – Keaton Row
Jennifer Norman – derma e
Tanya Klick – Entrepreneur
Jessica Minkoff – Marie Claire
This was one of my favorite panels of the day. It was so inspiring to hear how these ladies climbed their way to the top through a lot of hard-work and dedication. One thing that stuck with me was when Tanya Klick of Entrepreneur said “Think like an editor & network with a plan.”
The next panel was filled with some fabulous bloggers:
All of these ladies have had so much success in the blogging word and are inspirations to many up and comers. I loved when they talked about their “I Made It” moments.
We also got to hear from some great stylist!
The main Key Note speaker was none other than Mr. Joe Zee.
PC: Soul Brother
He spoke about how he got into the fashion world and the various magazines he worked with. He is currently the Editor in Chief and Executive Creative Officer of Yahoo Style. He pointed out that you can get so influenced by what others are doing it starts to impact who you are. His response to that is to shut people out and do your thing! I love that.
“Everyday is a hustle, if it’s not – you’re not working hard enough.” -Joe Zee
I also had the opportunity to briefly sit down with the founder of Simply Stylist, Sarah Boyd.
She got into details about how she got her foot in the door and what influenced her to start Simply Stylist. She basically wanted to create a platform within the beauty & fashion industry where people could connect and network. The Simply Stylist conferences started out in 2009 and take place in 3 cities – NYC, LA & Chicago. She also said that her monthly workshops will be expanding to NYC in 2015.
Some other quotes from the panels that really stuck with me came from the Stylists:
“It’s never going to hurt you to go up to someone” – Madison Guest
“If you’re really passionate about something and follow it, you will be successful” – Justin Anderson

Over all it was a fun and informative day. I got to meet so many new people and connect with other bloggers and designers that I normally wouldn’t have the chance to. Listening to all the panels really gets you motivated to take things to the next level and get your creative side going.
